Dunn Chiropractic Answers Common Questions

If you’re new to chiropractic or haven’t been to the office before, it’s normal that you’d have some questions. Learn more about chiropractic and what Dr. Dunn does here.

If I start care, will I always have to go?

No. Many people, however, find that they get such benefits from care, they want to continue enjoying them for life.

Does it hurt to get adjusted?

Typically, no. If you have a painful area in your body, there may be some mild discomfort. Since we use the Activator®, it will be minimal.

Can chiropractic cure everything?

No. Chiropractic removes interference to the nervous system so your body can work optimally.

Why would a newborn or child need to get adjusted?

We welcome babies and children so that they can start off life with a nervous system free from interference. Even conditions like colic or ear infections may benefit what we do since we remove interference from the nervous system so the body can work as it should.

Does insurance cover chiropractic?

In many cases, yes. Dr. Dunn doesn’t participate with any insurance companies. You’ll receive a receipt so you can submit directly to your insurance company. You can use your FSA or HSA here.

Do I need a referral from a physician?

No. You don’t need a referral to see a chiropractor.

Will I get adjusted on my first visit?

Whether you’ll be adjusted on your initial visit depends on the complexity of our findings from your examination process. It’s taken on a case-by-case basis.

Will you give me exercises to do?

Yes, but not on your first visit. We want to see how you respond to care first. When you’re ready, you’ll get exercises to strengthen and stabilize your body and serve as a complement to your adjustments.

Can someone who has had back surgery see a chiropractor?

Yes. There may be some areas of your spine that can’t be adjusted because of the surgery. With the Activator instrument, we can be specific and use little force.

How long will it take before I feel better?

Everyone is different. Most of our patients start to see improvements within the first few weeks of care. It will vary depending on your situation.
